Credence Ebooks Tutorial and Frequently asked questions

Introduction

Credence downloadable ebooks provide an electronic alternative to physical printed books with several distinct advantages for some readers including the ability to be downloaded from anywhere in the world without postal costs or delays, active links for chapters and references, keyword search, etc.

The ebooks reside in a Windows PC (.exe) format and must be activated online when first opened. After this the ebook will remain unlocked on the computer in which it was opened and activated and is readable at any time.

The process of downloading and activating an ebook can be done in a matter of minutes and consists of 3 simple steps.

1. At the time of your purchase you will be returned to a page with a download button that looks like the one below.

2. Click on the 'download' button and a box will pop up in your browser giving the options 'run', 'save', 'cancel'. (in Firefox the box just shows save or cancel. Choose 'save' and another box will pop up prompting you to choose the location on your computer where the ebook will be downloaded.

Before you can read your new ebook you must have a PIN number from Credence which is sent by one of our staff via email. This may take a few hours depending on the time of day and any difference in time zone where you are relative to the UK (GMT). You do not need the PIN to download the ebook but will need it later to activate and unlock the book. You will need to decide which computer you will want to unlock your ebook on because the activation process is specific to only one computer. So if, for example, you have downloaded to your desktop but will want to read the ebook on your laptop, just cut and paste the file over to the laptop before activating it using your PIN.

3. Once you have received the PIN number you can unlock and activate your ebook. When you first open the book (by simply clicking on the .exe file) you will be greeted with a page that looks like this:

Click 'Yes' to continue and you will see a pop-up box like the one below. Simply enter your name, email and the PIN you have been given and your ebook will automatically be unlocked. Be sure to only complete this final step from the computer on which you want to store and read your ebook.
That's all there is to it. Once activated the ebook will open by clicking the .exe file and can be read anytime.
